The renounce of three colombian technicals who negotiated the intellectual property issue of the AFTA has been a very hard shock.

The technicals had send a letter to the colombian Social Protection Minister when they hold last wednesday, Hernando José Gómez, chief of the colombian team, says that the end of the negotiation would be determined for political decisions, so the technical work has been concluded.

All that stort begun with the XII negotiation round when the United States hold an old proposal rejected by the three countries in negotiation, Colombia, Peru and Ecuador. One of the points was the patents on alive organisms, therapeutic and surgical process, extend the patents period and a lot of points discussed in the first round of negotiations.

Last week, the three members of the colombian team send a letter to the Minister, indicating between another things, the inconvenient of the norteamerican proposal fot the colombian interest.
